چکیده

Abstract. Better monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) of the amount, additionality, persistence sequestered soil carbon is needed to understand best farming practices for different soils climate conditions, as well their actual benefits or cost efficiency in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. This paper presents our Field Observatory Network (FiON) researchers, farmers, companies, other stakeholders developing practices. FiON has established a unified methodology towards monitoring forecasting agricultural sequestration by combining offline near-real-time field measurements, weather data, satellite imagery, modeling, computing networks. FiON's first phase consists two intensive research sites 20 voluntary pilot farms testing Finland. To disseminate built web-based dashboard called (v1.0, https://www.fieldobservatory.org/, last access: 3 February 2022). The designed an online service model–data synthesis, forecasting, decision support farmers who are able monitor effects most advanced features visible on Qvidja site, which acts prototype recent implementations. Overall, aims create new knowledge provide MRV tool support.

GRACEnet: Greenhouse gas reduction through agricultural carbon enhancement network

GRACEnet (greenhouse gas reduction through agricultural carbon enhancement network) is a new research program initiated by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The primary objectives of GRACEnet are to identify and develop agricultural strategies that will enhance soil C sequestration and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to provide a ...

Measuring Soil Carbon Under Cap-and-Trade: Accurate, Affordable Field Verification Using Veris Spectroscopic Sensors

Measuring changes in soil carbon levels is a difficult task. Uncertainty about soil carbon measurement, monitoring, and verification is affecting agriculture’s role as an offset provider under a cap-and-trade program. There is ample evidence that skepticism is warranted. Soil carbon varies significantly at short distances—the carbon difference between samples collected within a meter can easily...

Towards OpenFlow network monitoring

Network monitoring is becoming more and more important as more Internet Service Providers and Enterprise networks deploy real-time services, like voice and video. Network operators need to have an up-to-date view of the network and to measure network performance with metrics like link usage, packet loss and delay, in order to assure the quality of service for such applications. Obtaining accura...

Agricultural management explains historic changes in regional soil carbon stocks.

Agriculture is considered to be among the economic sectors having the greatest greenhouse gas mitigation potential, largely via soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration. However, it remains a challenge to accurately quantify SOC stock changes at regional to national scales. SOC stock changes resulting from SOC inventory systems are only available for a few countries and the trends vary widely be...
